KAPU PATEL PHOTOGRAPHY
Highlighting: kapuPatelPhotography
When the lockdown was announced, so many small businesses, including myself, had to shut its doors and wait for the storm to pass. It was a frightening thought for the future not only for myself, but also for the larger business community. I knew then that I had to do something to support our business community. I'm so grateful for the @Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber who chose to partner with us on this project.
I cannot thank you all enough for following us on this journey! Through this project we have shared some incredible stories of resilience and business creatives and it has been a pleasure featuring them.
For those of you who have not met us (yet!), here is a little introduction about us:
Kapu is a Visual Story Designer and is the Owner and Photographer of kapuPatel Photography. Aparna is the Studio Manager and works on social media and behind-the-scenes. Kapu's passion is to show you how YouShine® from the inside out. Whether it is your love and passion for your business and profession, your love and connection between your loved ones and you, or simply a celebration of yourself, Kapu captures your true authentic self in an empowering portrait.
Website: https://www.kapupatelphotography.com
Social media: https://www.facebook.com/kapupatelphotography
When the lockdown put an abrupt halt on the studio work and a lot of business and personal portrait sessions were cancelled or put on hold, Kapu wanted to support the business community and those hurting from Covid at this time and launched the following two projects:
- The Front Porch Project - through which kapuPatel Photography raised $5,000 for HomeFront and featured 33 families and their message of love, connection and positivity during this time.
- Local Businesses #StrongerTogether Project - through which kapuPatel Photography highlighted small businesses of NJ and in particular, members of Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber, sharing their stories of success, challenges and shifts during this lockdown.
What kapuPatel Photography has been upto during this time: Both Kapu and Aparna have continued to strengthen their back-end process during this time. Kapu took the opportunity of the shutdown to do a three-week intensive photography workshop on ways to capture powerful, strong portraits in an experience like none other for her clients.
How can you support kapuPatel Photography?: kapuPatel Photography is now stronger and better equipped to serve you. Like most businesses that have had to completely shut down during the almost three months, there's a lot of catching up to do, but Kapu firmly believes that the community will support them and will think of kapuPatel Photography for their:
- Family portraits (this is the best time to capture those newfound moments of reconnection and love within your family),
- Senior portraits (give them the celebration they deserve by celebrating their spirit and their courage),
- Pet portraits (just because they are your best friends), as well as
- Headshots / Branding portfolio (because no time better than now to refresh and reach out to the world!).
You can get in touch with Kapu: kapu@kapupatelphotography.com or at: 609-933-8361.
During this time, what makes Kapu happy is: being with family, long walks, practicing yoga and even dreaming and planning amazing travels for 2021, wherever her itchy feet may take her!
And what makes Aparna happy is: the peace and quiet of this time to work uninterrupted, and spending time with her son.

RYAN JAMES AGENCY
Highlighting: Ryan Csolak, Ryan James Agency, 3687 Nottingham Way, A, Hamilton Square, NJ 08619.
Website: http://ryanjamesagency.com
Social Media Link: http://www.facebook.com/ryanjamesagency/
As a small creative digital marketing agency, Ryan James Agency has been greatly affected by the Coronavirus. They've had to shift from working collaboratively in their office, which they all love, to working remotely full-time from home. For a business like theirs which thrives on connection, ideas and collaborating, they've been forced to rethink how they work together. Online tools like Zoom, etc, have helped but the real excitement of throwing ideas around in the creative war room just isn't there. Their business has also shifted from focussing on being creative, witty, and call-to-action minded to being smart and careful about the messages they are now crafting for clients. They are now working in a way more empathetic mindset, to ensure they can put their content out there in a respectable and gracious way. "We're still being uber creative, just in a much different way." Ryan said.
One business pivot might be into the software development space. Since the Covid-19 outbreak they've been contracted by a few firms to build learning management systems and online training tools, that Ryan says, is a super exciting space to work in and he believes to be the next frontier in digital marketing as well, as we all move to online learning tools and more.
How can you support Ryan James Agency?: Think of Ryan James Agency for your digital marketing and advertising needs. They are also experts in digital social media influencer marketing. Ryan is looking forward to doing his part as a marketer to help small businesses in any way when we're all allowed to engage again. In terms of Ryan James Agency, he's trying to plan for the future.
You can get in touch with Ryan: ryan@ryanjamesagency.com
During this time, what makes Ryan happy is in terms of the business, any little piece of normalcy keeps them grounded and happy. "From a standing client conference call to a super short deadline... really we're taking solace in the little things that are easy to take for granted. We're just happy to have clients to guide and support, no matter what kind of deadline we're on! On a personal level, spending time with my family has to be number 1. I'm trying to take advantage of this time - I get to spend all day with my wife, my 4-year-old and 7-year-old, that's pretty amazing. Keeping my family safe, happy and healthy keeps me happy." Ryan said.
JML FINANCIAL GROUP
Highlighting: Joseph Yocavitch, JML Financial Group, Inc, 1864 Route 70 East, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08003.
Have you noticed how this post looks so different from the rest of the posts? Since Joe, Linda and Mike were in three different locations we decided to do this over zoom and this was our first zoom interview and portrait. You can see how we did it. I really enjoyed watching the dynamics between the family as they worked together. Mike mentioned how his parents are his friends and he looks to his mom and dad for advice. His message to the young people, “read and practice all the things you wanted to do before, but could not”. He enjoys reading the book, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, with his dad.

Founded by Joseph Yocavitch, JML Financial Group is an independent firm and was created with the vision of serving as a trusted guide for people as they navigate the many financial stages of life, offering advice and recommendations along the way. The current situation and social distancing has prevented client meetings and networking events. Although technology has helped, there is nothing like seeing your clients in person. Especially the older clients that are not tech savvy. Joseph said he has 35 years as an advisor, and his clients and associates are the heart of his business. "I have always educated my clients and now this has given me a greater opportunity to make sure they are kept informed and on track." Joseph added.

Ayesha said it has been a very busy few weeks as her business clients have tried to navigate remote working, layoffs and just trying to stay alive. She has also taken on numerous cases of employees being improperly terminated by large companies. It would appear that employers are using this time to "clean house" of employees they would have otherwise not been able to terminate for various reasons. You can choose your culinary adventure from the different food tours they offer in Jersey City, Princeton, Red bank and Somerville.
Since Alessia's business relies completely on restaurants being open and being able to gather in groups, she cannot operate her food tour business at the moment. You can get in touch with Alessia: info@beyondtheplatefoodtours.com

Website: https://www.delislandscaping.com

DELIS Landscaping is one of the most well-respected landscape design companies in the greater Princeton area. With a degree in ornamental horticulture and about 30 years working in the industry, of which 11 years with his own business, Rich loves what he does and is passionate about each property. It all means nothing without the employees and clients.
Rich said due to the current situation, meeting with clients is now much less personable. He would have normally had the opportunity to visit sites and walk properties with homeowners to discuss their goals. Now he visits properties on his own and discusses with clients via phone or email. It has made the selling process much more difficult.
How can you support Rich?: Think of Rich for all your landscaping needs, design, installations, lawn, estate and seasonal maintenance.
You can get in touch with Rich: rgreen@delislandscaping.com
During this time, what makes Rich happy is seeing all the trees/shrubs/etc in flower on beautiful sunny days. "Just knowing that I have contributed by designing and planting for so many to enjoy while they spend an increased amount of time at home. Giving back is always rewarding. We are a part of Green Care for Troops which is geared towards assisting our military with their landscape maintenance while they are deployed.
We have extended that same assistance to our healthcare heroes during these stressful times. No healthcare heroes have taken advantage yet, but we are ready when they need us." Rich said.

Theater To Go is a traveling theater company and does not have a physical theater but they do have a good social media presence. They are on YouTube, twitter, Instagram and FB. Theater To Go started in 1992 to provide audience participation events, such as murder mysteries and they have entertained thousands of people since then. They have provided corporate entertainment for team building and general relaxation, assisted with fundraisers, and restaurants. They have branched out to produce a wide variety of stage plays seen and enjoyed by many people. They've had to cancel a production due to Coronavirus and they are now working on creating some online content to share with their audiences. Ruth says live theater is one of the things that sustains people in times of trouble, and she hopes it will continue to do so during this crisis as well. They are in the process of figuring out how to stream one of their shows in the next few weeks. She worries when live theater comes back. Although it certainly won't be one of the first things to return to normal but Theater To Go will find a way to be there. When normalcy begins to return, Theater To Go will be there to offer their services, and to cheer people.

JOSHUA ZINDER ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN

Website: http://joshuazinder.com
Social Media Link: http://www.facebook.com/jzad.architecture/
Located in Princeton, JZA+D embraces architecture, interiors, product, furniture, and graphic design and functions as a multidisciplinary team that shares sustainable and contemporary design aesthetics and aspirations.
Mark said that they fortunately haven’t been seriously affected. They were able to quickly upgrade their network and technology to support 100% of staff working from home, and they continue to produce, design and innovate for their clients.
Concern for the well being of family, staff and the Princeton community at large is frightening, Mark said. They moved to a remote working scenario — before being mandated to do so — out of an abundance of concern for our staff and their families. And yet, the coronavirus has taken the life of a family member of one of our staff. The pandemic reminds us that all of our lives and endeavors are fragile things.
How can you support JZA+D?: Think of JZA+D for your interiors, product, furniture and graphic design and architecture. That is why they have now pivoted to a remote working posture before it was required by the governor’s executive order, and invested in the technology upgrades to support it.
You can get in touch with Mark: msullivan@joshuazinder.com
In the meantime, what makes Mark happy is being home with the kids. He said, "I get to see them throughout the day, and while that may cause my working hours to spread out, making the workday somewhat longer, it is a day at home with my family."
It was a wonderful surprise to see and photograph Mark, especially in front of the historic building they are redesigning and in front of their own office building in downtown Princeton.
YINGHUA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

The school has currently closed and the summer camp has been cancelled. As a non-profit they rely on enrollment to fund all costs of operation covering faculty salaries to rent. With lower enrollment due to a recession, maintaining the amazing team and as such unparalleled education that they offer, is a fear.
How can you support YingHua International School?: Check out their virtual learning. The school has now moved to a virtual learning platform to continue the excellence in education for which they are known for.
You can get in touch with Laura: laura.desai@yhis.org

"Getting Unstuck In A Sticky World" is Robin Tefft Coaching's logo. Robin Tefft Coaching provides life coaching and even business coaching and helps you with goal setting and achieving. Robin says because of the current situation, people are now reluctant to "splurge" and spend money on themselves, even if they will benefit from coaching. They don't always realize it's an investment in them and in their well being.
How can you support Robin Tefft Coaching?: Think of Robin Tefft Coaching when you need a life coach or guidance. The reason she got into life/business coaching is a deep-rooted one...and a fairly long story to tell. It's on the front page of her website as well as the FB page. It was at this time last year when everything sort of fell apart for her and yet opened her eyes to her purpose of helping people get un-stuck.
You can get in touch with Robin: robin@robintefft.com
In the meantime, what makes Robin happy is being healthy. Helping other people get out of the fear mindset, and knowing when we get to the other side of this there will be so many people that she can help.
HARWILL EXPRESS PRESS
Highlighting: Steven Portrude, Harwill Express, Windsor Industrial Park, 92 North Main Street | Building 16, Windsor, NJ 08561.
Website: http://Harwillexpresspress.com
Social Media Link: http://linkedin.com/in/steven-portrude-b1069810/
I photographed Steven and his team outside their work space and they stood out with their name banners representing even those who weren't present. Harwill Express Press is your corporate communications printer and their featured products include corporate identity materials, marketing items and meeting materials.
Steven said how he has seen all of their friends and clients get hurt by this event from lack of direction, lack of work or people being scared or sick. This has affected their business because no one wants to market in this troubled time. A large part of their business is providing print support for trade shows and sales marketing / training events and this has all been cancelled till the fall the earliest, and this lack of work has hurt. Losing the family that Steven said they have built over 40 years - their staff, vendors, clients and mentors they have worked with since they opened up have become part of their family. "I know we will be here for everyone when this ends but some people might not make it and this will hurt." said Steven.

It was so great to see how positive Steve and their entire team's spirit was when I met with them…it lifted my spirit up that day!
SZAFERMAN LAKIND
Highlighting: Barry Szaferman of Szaferman Lakind, 101 Grovers Mill Road, Suite 200, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Website: http://www.szaferman.com
Social Media Link: http://www.facebook.com/szafermanlakind/
Szaferman Lakind is a full service law firm in NJ which has been awarded Martindale-Hubbell’s™ highest rating of AV-Preeminent, and ranked a Tier-1 Law Firm by U.S. News & World Report on their Best Law Firms list since 2014. The firm is proud to have been recognized by New York Magazine as one of the New York Area’s Top Ranked Law Firms.
Barry says, “I co-founded our firm with two friends more than 40 years ago. So in terms of my professional career, I have known no other. The firm has provided not only great business opportunities but as important are the friendships and personal relationships that I've been fortunate enough to maintain, many of which are decades long. As to business pivoting to adjust to the changing times, lesson one from this crisis is that technology to a great degree will replace the face-to-face practice of law. I equate the change to on-line shopping and destination retailers. Firms that are prepared for that change and continue to provide quality legal services will flourish, those that don't will falter."
How can you support Szaferman Lakind?: They have had to make lots of adjustments in the ways in which they provide services while not sacrificing quality. As a safeguard against spreading the virus, their attorneys, staff and clients are severely limited in access to the offices. Video conferencing is the new norm for internal meetings, client contact and even depositions and court appearances.
You can contact them for any of these areas of practices - general litigation, family law, personal injury, business and commercial real estate and land use.
On a personal front, Barry says, "I feel very good about the way Americans, by and large, have recognized the common threat presented by the virus and united in behaviors that help to safeguard all of us. I see more common courtesy as a recognition that we are all in this fight together."
HUMAN EDGE RESOURCES

Human Edge Resources, LLC, partners with you and your organization to design and deliver unique and targeted solutions to maximize organizational sustainability, develop inspirational leaders, and build high performing teams. Eleanor Lyons and Mary Gross have been supporting leaders with executive coaching, leadership and team development and strategic facilitation for 13 years. This disaster has affected them tremendously. All of their in-person leadership development workshops have been cancelled through the end of the year. As a result they are now pivoting to virtual programs but that will take some time to design and market. Networking, which is one of their strongest sources of marketing, has been halted, so they are now communicating more through social media, emails and newsletters.
How can you support Eleanor?: Think of Human Edge Resources, LLC for your strategic consulting and facilitation and leadership development. They have new tools to share with clients, helping them understand that development and innovation does not have to stop during uncertain times.

KIKI D’S

Website: https://www.kikidresses.com/
Social Media Link: https://www.facebook.com/kikidresses/
KiKi D had to close in the middle of their busiest time! Mary says, "We sell mother of the bride/groom and prom dresses in addition to less formal dresses. We make a huge investment in our inventory for the first six months of the year. I’m frightened that my business won’t recover if this continues. Not only were weddings and proms postponed / cancelled but so were communions, graduations and many other occasions that call for a pretty dress”.
When I went to photograph KiKi D, it was hard for me not to peek into the store and check out two of my favorite sweaters in the new collection. And how apt is that Mary also has a perfect outfit for all the Princeton grads and alums. We couldn’t resist photographing her in those.
Did you know all KiKi D high school customers have a special rate for their portraits with us?
How can you support KiKi D?: Starting next week KiKi D will be open for online as well as curbside shopping! Her Instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/kiki_ds_princeton/?hl=en) highlights some of the newer Spring fashions available.

On the personal end, Mary is happy to be home and cooking more recipe-driven meals for her husband, and knowing that family and friends are safe at home.

Imbue Creative is a very technology-driven Advertising, Design and a Marketing company and had a robust work-from-home set up before Corona-virus hit, so the transition was minimal for them unlike many others. The biggest effect on them has been doing their collaboration session virtually which was a lot easier and fun when done in person.
How can you support Imbue Creative?: Think of them for your advertising, marketing and design needs. They have pivoted most by trying to make their expertise widely available through weekly webinars on key marketing topics. This has been on their own or as a value-added offering to other companies customers/partners. Highlighting: Darr Kartychak, US1 Printing Solutions, 100 Overlook Ctr, 2nd Fl, Princeton, NJ 08540.
Website: http://us1printing.com
Social Media Link: https://www.facebook.com/us1printingsolutions
US1 Printing Solutions provide online printing services amidst many of their other printing services. Darr said how their typical print media product orders, marketing collateral and direct mail now trickle in sporadically, and event and fundraising gala products have dried up because of the current situation. It takes a lot more time to complete a project during the pandemic. On the other hand, custom packaging product demand has increased for them.
How can you support Darr?: Think of US1 Printing Solutions for all your online printing services. Darr also mentioned and brought out their new product, The Chair Halo, when I photographed him. The Chair Halo is a prop (chair and backdrop) and is an innovative way to keep your brand in front of your client during a video call.
You can get in touch with Darr: darr@us1printing.com
In the meantime, what makes Darr happy is the opportunity and the time to explore what he could not do before - reconnecting with people with whom he had lost touch.
PRINCETON INTEGRATIVE HEALTH
Highlighting: Jenna Richardson, Princeton Integrative Health, 134 Franklin Corner Road, Suite 103, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Website: http://www.princetonih.com
Social Media Link: http://www.facebook.com/princetonintegrativehealth
Princeton Integrative Health (PIH) combines the best of functional medicine with conventional medicine to help you take control of your health. Jenna Richardson and her father, Vincent Leonti, MD, recognized the need for this new approach to health care after their own personal health issues required more than traditional medicine had to offer.
Jenna said how during this time, they've had to downsize their practice and staff for the time being and cutting down several services. Isolation and uncertainty is the most frightening during this time. Jenna misses seeing and hugging clients / patients and staff and looks forward to connecting again soon, post quarantine.
How can you support Jenna?: Princeton Integrative Health has now moved entirely virtual to telehealth sessions with their client / patients. They have started to use social media in a more robust way to educate and empower folks to take back control of their health through their Immune Support and More FB group and others. They have seen an increase in interest in restoring health and preventing disease - especially those linked to COVID mortality (obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure).
You can get in touch with Jenna: jenna@princetonih.com
In the meantime, what makes Jenna happy is her family and friends, especially her young children (and the time they get to spend together now). The ability to slow down a bit and appreciate life and the time that they have here together on earth. The knowing that from all darkness comes new light - she's excited to see what's on the other side of this pandemic. The fact that this pandemic has forced some folks to pay attention, wake up, and recognize that they do have control and influence over their health story.
PROMETHEUS PUBLISHING
Highlighting: Bart Jackson, Prometheus Publishing, Cranbury, NJ 08512.
Website: http://bartsbooks.comSocial Media Link: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bart-jackson-462a8820/?trk=bartsbooks
As a lifelong journalist, CEO of Prometheus Publishing, and host of The Art of the CEO radio show, Bart's career and company have focused on bringing to light the wisest individuals and putting the most helpful tools in people's hands. Bart at Prometheus Publishing was putting out the call for nominations for their Prometheus Social Enterprise Awards - their way of honoring those exceptional individuals who by personal example & their inventive enterprises have enriched our human community and shed light into our world, when the virus chopped all plans like an axe. But he found that last year's award winners are all out fighting this virus assault with immense energy and compassion: disaster relievers, fundraisers, innovative suppliers all in the field, inventing solutions.
How can you support Bart?: Bart says that it's not the Social Distancing that bothers him, it's the Fiscal Distancing - watching all his money retreat further and further away. His mission still stays and he continues to broadcast/share hopefully beneficial solutions to help folks survive. In an attempt to rip away the blanket of Covid -19 depression, they have now begun posting "Laughter Vaccines" - A daily bit of humor to serve as an inoculation against taking this day too seriously. Also, their book "In the Words of My Wife's Husband", a hefty sourcebook of business humor, scheduled for summer, has been brought to the fore when we need it most.
You can get in touch with Bart: bart@bartsbooks.com
In the meantime, what makes Bart happy: is that oblivious Spring comes spreading her glories despite the woes of human circumstance; that New Yorkers spontaneously applaud from the rooftops all those weary first responders; the folks on Nassau street and his street greeting passersby with sincere warmth. And what makes him happiest is seeing so many folks stepping up and becoming extraordinary neighbors.
Bart's sense of humor had me laughing out loud during our shoot! And I so enjoyed the gift of his book "102 Best Business Quips". It surely lightened my day! You can get your hands on the book here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GSJMZD6/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i2

KINGSTON LAW GROUP
Highlighting: Hanan Isaacs, Kingston Law Group, 4499 Route 27, P.O. Box 583, Princeton, NJ 08540.
Website: http://www.kingstonlawgroup.com
Hanan was hospitalized with COVID-19 in late March and when he got out, he discovered that the legal profession had disappeared overnight. He realised they could no longer see clients or prospective clients in person. The pipeline of new business dried up. Some people who owed money could not pay, or only pay on a schedule. The office was shut. Staff worked from home on reduced hours. The uncertainty of what is going to happen and what form work takes is all to be determined.
How can you support Hanan?: Reach out to Hanan for help with COVID-19 Divorce Counseling, Commiseration, and Crisis Management. He is available by phone for consultations and to answer questions; meetings can be scheduled via online conferencing.

Onolee has a freelance graphic business which has taken a hit, but she is now able to spend more time focusing on the direction in which to push her business, and put more effort into marketing. COVID-19 has shown the importance in keeping both herself and her business malleable and adaptable. "Do good work for good people." says Onolee, quoting her favorite quote that inspired her business name.

Social Media Link: https://www.facebook.com/HamiltonJeweler/
I had a chance to photograph Andrew Siegel and Donna Bouchard from Hamilton Jewelers. Due to the current Covid-19 crisis, Donna said that they have been closed for several weeks and have had to furlough many employees. The uncertainty about what the new 'normal' will be, is frightening.
How can you support Hamilton Jewelers?: Did you know they have online business as well?
Donna wants to help and pay-it-forward to everyone. Hamilton Jewelers has created the Princeton Community Auction in an effort to assist those most affected by COVID-19 and support the local community, and they invite you to join an online auction initiative to raise proceeds for independent and small businesses in our community and their employees.

STIMULUS BRAND
Highlighting: Tom McManimon, Stimulus Brand, 1 Currier Way, Ewing, NJ 08628.
Website: https://stimulusbrand.com/
The field of marketing and advertising in general has been greatly affected. Tom says how their clients have largely put a stop on spending activity and in some cases, totally. The methods for communicating and selling have transitioned largely to online means which will grow as more and more people become comfortable with the technologies and platforms. The complete quarantine has halted planned and needed marketing efforts for clients.
How can you support Tom?: Tom says how they have stepped up to recognize and support area small and local businesses by promoting them daily and appealing to the community to turn to them for their needs —now and in the foreseeable future. The current constraints imposed by this pandemic have spawned a surge in online meetings, learning, networking and creating. Being experienced and comfortable with the various digital tools, he says they have pivoted quickly, and like everyone else, are exploring how to be better, more efficient, more creative. He has faith in his skills, talents and experience to draw on no matter which direction business takes us.
You can reach him directly here: tom@stimulusbrand.com
In the meantime Tom is seeing the beauty of new life and color of Spring and finds the change outside uplifting. He loves how, after the initial scare, more and more people are reaching out to each other.
SEBASTIAN FENCING ACADEMY

YOUNG AUDIENCES
Highlighting: Young Audiences NJ& Eastern PA, 200 Forrestal Road, Princeton, NJ 08540 USA.
Website: http://Yanjep.org
How can you support them? Young Audiences has quickly developed free video resources for children, families and teachers called Arts Connection. They are working with our artists to develop additional resources, harnessing their creativity, artistry and educational approach.
Michele Russo says, "My work is part of my life’s mission and it is central to who I am. We know the arts are essential to education and are determined to be part of school, even when buildings are closed. We provide arts education programs in schools, led by professional artists. Programs range from professional learning for teachers, assembly performances and hands-on workshops”.
Michele is concerned that all Spring programs (over 300) have been cancelled with the uncertainty of when schools will reopen, and the uncertainty of possible new restrictions once they do their work is challenged.
Personally, Michele is reconnecting with nature and having more time for creative pursuits but is concerned about the impact of separation for school children and the loss of community that is found within the schools.

Marc wanted his entire team to be represented in this and we made sure we captured them in the flier Marc holds.
HILLARY SPIVAK FOR ARBONNE
Highlighting: Hillary Spivak
Website: http://hillaryspivak.arbonne.com
When the Corona lockdown happened, Hillary lost her full-time job due to lack of business. Her plan B quickly became her plan A because of how things have panned out in the past few weeks. "We will always be impacted by events that we cannot control. Are we prepared emotionally, financially, physically?" asks Hillary. If there's a positive thing that we can all take away from this time, that is to stay relevant, gather your focus and reinvent your business and yourself. Hillary has gone ahead and done just that. She is now training with Arbonne and is helping people become healthier and sharing how to add another stream of income.
How can you support Hillary?: Hillary is selling a whole range of Arbonne products online. She can guide you and help you select what's best for you. And did you know what's fun? Hillary is now offering virtual facials! Isn't that fun? Why not get in touch with her and set something up for your girlfriends and you?
You can reach her directly here: hillaryspivak@gmail.com
People who know her know how much she LOVES people and gets her energy from people! And currently she is living out her passion and helping as many people as she can by sharing her positive energy with the business that she loves.
YOGASOUL
Highlighting: YogaSoul . True to its name, there is a deep community soul to this studio. I often refer to it as my home away from home and was so shocked to see an empty parking lot.
How can you support them? They have shifted to an online platform to continue to generate some income to pay their rent and amazing teachers during this time by offering online classes. Please consider joining in and experience the love (I am there often and we can say a virtual hi). You can sign up at: http://www.yogasoulnj.com.
Cristina Grummon @cagrummon is the owner and the chief smiler here. Cristina says: “This studio is my baby, I want it to not only survive but thrive. I had to quickly figure out how to create an online presence which was a crash course to get us up and running again. I know this incredible community of yogis won’t give up on us. They are so committed to their practice and to the the people that they practice alongside of everyday! That’s why I’m committed to working hard for them and for all the teachers who give so much as well.”
It makes her happy to see so many familiar faces joining us for our virtual classes!
But she also is unsure of the future of the studio. Cristina says: “I want to be able to continue to be there for all of our students when things return to “normal”.
THE GRAPE ESCAPE
Highlighting: The Grape Escape, Dayton NJ
How can you support them?
How about your own wine? If you can partner with other couples/individuals, you can commit to a barrel. Ed and his wife will process the first two steps for you and when they open up, you can join in on the experience.
Due to the nature of the business, grapes need to be bought in advance. Since they are not allowed to retail wine those losses cannot be recovered through trailing sales. Tastings have been closed leading to lost sales for the upcoming spring winemaking season and cancellation of numerous corporate events
Heres what Ed had to say about The Grape Escape “After 23 years in the corporate world, followed by 15 years of consulting , I purchased The Grape Escape as a way to ease into “retirement”. The business was to take me to retirement and beyond. It will be another challenge that eventually will be overcome. After all, if all else fails, “I got wine”.
Ed is thankful for his grown daughter who has taken on the payment of her own college loans that Ed had commited to. Also, having the support of Princeton Mercer Chamber of Commerce members who have reached out to help has been uplifting . Clients who have humbled him by increasing orders and satisfying outstanding receivables. In essence, I’m blessed to have cheerleaders from personal, professional and consumer relationships.
Eds primary concern right now is the health of his 90 year old mother and the rest of his community.
A STITCH AHEAD
Highlighting: Frank and Sarah Mangee, A Stitch Ahead.
Website: http://astitchaheadinc.com
Frank and Sarah Mangee are pillars of the local business community. I have personally known them for a few years and I highly recommend them for all your promotional product needs.
You can support their business by ordering through their web store division. Their custom built web stores provide branded apparel and promotional products to students and employees forced to work from home. They can safely order company/university swag from the comfort of home and have it shipped direct - a big morale booster!"
With the Corona lockdown, spring orders which are primarily event driven have been cancelled. Because of lay-offs at their clients, their Workwear division has taken an enormous hit as well.
The Mangees have worked very hard for the past 23 years to make A Stitch Ahead a true brand management company and continues to do so through their web store program. A large percentage of their business comes from in person networking in Chamber and BNI. In 2019 they made a major Investment in their business to create more exposure for themselves, being strategically present on social media and signing up with a business coach. All that has come together to help deal with the current crisis.
The uncertainty of the future is stressful. But, Frank is thankful knowing his family and staff are healthy and safe in these uncertain times. Sarah mentioned how grateful she is of the network of people that they can reach out to, people they know and trust. Knowing that there is a community who can support them at this time has been a redeemer.
As a small business where both spouses are involved in running their business home schooling is a challenge. Sarah has a new appreciation for teachers, loves watching how her son is learning and enjoys having a very mature 17 year old around.
