The Difference between Yearbook Pictures and Senior Portraits

Senior Portraits are so important because the Senior year is the year the teens turn into an official legal adult, most get their license, they apply to colleges, they literally spread their wings and they get ready to fly out. In short - your Senior makes some of the most important life decisions in this one year, at home with you guiding him/her personally!

There is a huge difference between Senior Yearbook pictures and Senior Portraits. While the former is more like a regular Headshot against a standard backdrop that every Senior must take for the yearbook memory, the latter is a visual documentation of how your young adult has blossomed. Every Senior yearbook picture has the same traditional look with pretty much the same choice of clothing and backdrop, and while it does give it a nice consistent look for the school yearbook, it doesn’t quite detail your teen’s personality.

So what are the differences between Senior Yearbook pictures and Senior Portraits?

  • Senior Portraits have oomph and personality.

The Senior Portraits capture your Senior’s personality, whether they are into music, sports, theater. The Senior portraits detail their passions, hobbies etc.

  • The Senior year is the best time of your teen’s life to capture their youthful innocence and their memorable last one year before they leave home.

The Senior year is a significant year not just for the Senior but also for the parents and family members of a Senior. It is an emotional joyride for the parents who are soon going to be empty nesters.

  • They are a memory bank of the senior’s favorite places before they leave home.

The Senior Portraits will be a forever reminder to them of their favorite places and all the fun memories associated with those places. Whether they would like their photo shoot to be done indoor in the studio or on-location of their choice.

  • And then there are also the practical uses of how Senior Portraits are usually used.

Senior Year photos can be used in:

  • Sending out Graduation Party invites,

  • to send out RSVP cards, thank you cards,

  • to keep in the picture albums,

  • to exchange and send out as keepsakes between friends,

  • to send out to grandma and grandpa,

  • to send out to close family and friends,

  • to put in pretty picture frames and keep on your holiday mantelpiece.
